The Farm
Mr. Drivas manages 1 hectare of tree crops, primarily Valencia orange trees, in the wider area of Molai, Laconia, Greece.
The crops are spread across two plots in adjacent locations, each with different soil characteristics and irrigation requirements. Irrigation water is supplied by a privately owned borehole and pump, while the farm is divided into multiple irrigation zones with different water requirements.
The Challenge: Daily Irrigation Management Across Multiple Zones
Daily irrigation monitoring and management required frequent on-site visits to the fields and significant time on site. Irrigation decisions were primarily based on experience and on-site inspections, without access to reliable real-time data.
At the same time, maintaining high production quality required informed decisions based on actual field conditions.
The Solution: Remote Irrigation Monitoring and Management with SynField
The SynField solution was initially deployed in 2018 and has gradually expanded with additional equipment, creating an integrated system for remote farm monitoring and irrigation control.
The system provides comprehensive monitoring and control of the irrigation pump, a small water tank, and eight solenoid valves serving the farm’s multiple irrigation zones.
Using two SynField telemetry devices, the system collects real-time data on temperature, relative humidity, water pressure, and water level. It also enables remote control of the irrigation pump and solenoid valves through the SynField cloud platform and mobile applications for Android and iOS devices.

By adopting the SynField solution, the farmer can now:
